While searching in the <familysearch.org> indexed 1880 census I hit a guy named William h. De Matte who is the Superintendant of something, a school or something in Delavan. Lots of young people there. Lots of names too. What is the place? Slainte, Tim
If no one has answered your question...Without checking...I'm assuming that this was a census listing for a residential school for the deaf run by the State of Wisconsin. There is a similar school for the blind in Janesville, Rock Co., WI. Both schools have a long history. Both are still in operation today. Serving students K-12 & sometimes beyond with special short courses. They even have their own sports teams, etc. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Morrissey" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 3:33 PM Subject: [WIWALWOR] Curious Thing > While searching in the <familysearch.org> indexed 1880 census I hit a > guy named William h.
