The TURNER family I have is Anson Turner, b. abt. 1815 in NY, married Levinah Van Valin Sept. 25, 1836 probably in New York around Rochester. They are in the 1840 and 1850 census in Geneva, Walworth County. I cannot find Anson after the 1850 census. Children: Charles b. abt. 1840 in WI Charlotte b. abt. 1844 in WI Jerome b. abt. 1846 in WI Emma b. June 5, 1850 in WI In 1860 I find a Melvina Turner of the right age, right birth place in 2nd ward of Chicago with Charlotte and Jerome who are the right age as well. I know that Emma was raised by Levinah's sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Alvin Flint, who in 1860 were in Princeton, Green Lake Co., WI. I know nothing of Charles, and I don't find Levinah, Charlotte or Jerome again. Emma moved with her aunt and uncle to Chickasaw Co., Iowa in the late 1860s and she married in 1875 Frank Hollenbeck. They had one son, Turner Hollenbeck, who married and had no children. I get the sense that something perhaps unsavory transpired with Anson & Levinah. Levinah had lots of extended family in southern WI, so I'm curious about why she may have gone to Chicago if she were widowed... Emma seemed to get very creative with info about her youth, per census records and even her obit. Just gives me the feeling something haunted her. Any connections?
