They brought with them their children John, Elizabeth, and Serena. Rosepha, Emma, Alice Henry, Levi and Ella were born in this country. In 1862 they purchased farmland in Troy where they were living at the time of the 1880 census. Son John married Mary Strike and had 3 children, Daniel, Mabel and Roy. Mabel married William Branfort. I am in touch with 2 out of the three children of Roy. I'm not the person who offered to look up obits, but I had a thought when I saw your list. If I were doing this, I would need to know at least a month, not just a year. It would take too long to go through a whole years' worth of papers to find one obit. Also to look in a newspaper, a person should at least know the closest town to see if there is a newspaper on film available, as there are 16 townships in Walworth county, and that means there are quite a few newspapers. Just some ideas for you. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <WIWALWOR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 14, 2007 10:24 PM Subject: [WIWALWOR] Walworth lookup Please > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Coombe Branfort > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.walworth/2390/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Would the very kind person who offered to look up obits for Walworth county please look up some for me? > John Coombe died 1900 > Mary Coombe died 1933 > Henry Coombe died 1936 > Daniel Coombe died 1949 > Roy Coombe died 1961 > Thanks for volunteering. > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to WIWALWOR-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

Hi There appears to be a question as to when Vitals became available in Walworth County WI. Here are the Dates of the Earliest available records for Walworth County WI. Remember that does not mean that each and everyone will be there. Walworth Births 1872 Deaths 1872 Marriages 1839 Pat R
I am not the free lookup person you are responding to, but I just wanted to mention that Walworth County doesn't have birth certificates as early as 1840. We had only begun to be settled in the latter part of 1830. I cannot remember seeing a birth certificate, and then rare, till after 1870 or so. Just so you know this little tidbit. Hello Shirley Many of the people coming to this area of Wisonsin came to acquire Homestead property? The Homestead land records are available and land records can be very helpful in Genealogy. Probate Records in Wisonsin go back to 1848 and are another valuable genealogical tool. In some area's there are Church records going back to 1839 and 1840 up to 1850 which is the early dates of settlement in this area. Land Deeds for Walworth County go back to 1832 and there are also old land plot maps tht are available. There are ways to research in this aea as I had 2 families that I have found information on by researching these available records and I have never been anywhere near Wisconsin. Pat
I am not the free lookup person, but just thought I'd answer with a few thoughts. Walworth County was settled in the 1836 era and the first settler in Spring Prairie was in April of 1836 when he started working the land. Others came soon after. There just aren't records from that early to find much information about. The only Walworth/Walsworth in the index of county histories was a George Walworth, born Rome, NY in August of 1793, died Jan. 1853. George was the son of Jesse and wife Hannah, and Jesse's father was a James Walworth. George came 1843 to Spring Prairie with a brother Jesse Jr. and Jesse soon returned to Rome. The only Walworth name in the Spring Prairie Hickory Grove cemetery listing is a George Walworth who died Jan. 13, 1964 at age 70. The listing says that there are a couple of broken stones nearby, probably unreadable. I checked the Spring Prairie Bapttist Church Clerk's notes for any Walworth/Walsworth names, but that didn't start till May of 1841. No Charlotte listed there. I know there are no dates that early (1840) in the vital statistics at the courthouse, so not much help here.
