    3. Dear Reader I have a note that on 04 November 1861 at Darien, WI, Ryal Browne married to Jane Ann(a) Hillman 1837 - 1868. She is buried at Darien. After she died we think Ryal Browne may have remarried, to a lady called Cornelia _____ . Does anyone know if there were any children (or even remoter issue) by either of these marriages? Or anything alse of genealogical relevance? Thank you if you have any thoughts to share on this. Sincerely Charles Hillman http://www.hillmanc.fsnet.co.uk/hillman.htm

I don't think your Grandfather James is from my family. Three persons of the Sorensen family immigrated to Amerika at that time (around 1890), Jacob, Hans Johannes and Soren Lars. Often Danish immigrants "amerikanised" their names, but in this case the age and birth don't match my information. But anyway, do you have some more information on James? Did he have any brothers or sisters. Did he live in other places in Wisconsin etc. ?? Please let me know anything you come to think about. Hans Henning

    3. I have the HISTORY OF WALWORTH COUNTY, 1882, Western Historical Company, p 625 Re David L. Fairchild. He was the son of Edward and Sally (Winter) Fairchild. He did not seem to have a connection to Samuel or Eleazer. Nelson Fairchild, p 902m It does not give the names of his parents. However, he does have a son named Samuel. He married Laura Kinney. Born April 1822 in Lawrence County, NY. There is also a William H. Fairchild, son of John and Catharine (Clawson) Fairchild, born June 15, 1827 in Hunter, Greene County, NY. p828 I checked the other Fairchild references (37) but nothing that seems to give information on Samuel or Eleazer. Let me see if I can find something else. I notice there are two Samuel Fairchilds in Wisconsin in 1850. One lived in Geneva, Walworth County, the other in Lafayette County. Here is a land record for a Samuel Fairchild but I don't know which one this is. FAIRCHILD, SAMUEL Land Office: HUDSON Sequence #: 1 Document Number: 5185 Total Acres: 80 Misc. Doc. Nr.: Signature: Yes Canceled Document: No Issue Date: May 02, 1859 Mineral Rights Reserved: No Metes and Bounds: No Survey Date: Statutory Reference: 3 Stat. 566 Multiple Warantee Names: No Act or Treaty: April 24, 1820 Multiple Patentee Names: No Entry Classification: Sale-Cash Entries Legal Land Description: # Aliquot Parts Block # Base Line Fractional Section Township Range Section # 1 W½SW 4TH PM - 1831 MINNESOTA/WISCONSIN No 31 N 16 W 27 In the 1850 Federal Census for Geneva, Walworth County, Wisconsin, there is a Samuel Fairchild and next door is Nelson Fairchild. Here is the information in case you don't have it. Census taken 13th day of September. pg 255 Samuel Fairchild, age 64, farmer, b Conn Wife, Sally, age 62, b Conn William, age 30, b NY Nelson Fairchild, age 28, b NY Laura C, age 26, b NY George, age 3/12, b Wisconsin S---- A. Kinney, age 14, b NY William Kinney, age 22, laborer, b NY There is no last name after William but he is under the Kinney girl. I am having trouble reading her first name. It looks like Sency. No, I think that is an L. It could be Lucy A. Kinney. This would be a sister of Laura C Kinney Fairchild, according to the bio in the HISTORY OF WALWORTH COUNTY. In case this is your family, I will quote the bio. "NELSON FAIRCHILD, farmer, Sec. 17; P. O. Elkhorn; born in St. Lawrence County, NY, April 1822. He came to Walworth Co. in 1843, and purchased his present farm, where he has since lived. He was married to Laura Kinney, born in St. Lawrence Co. Mr. Kinney is numbered with the more successful and prosperous farmers of the town of Geneva. Mr. and Mrs. Fairchild have six children--George, Daniel D., Albert, Allison, Mina and Samuel. Daniel D., who owns a farm near that of his father, was born on the homestead in 1851; married Edna Vincent, daughter of Jarvis Vincent. They have two children--Jessie and Jennie. The children of Mr. Nelson Fairchild were all born at the homestead." Since this history was published in 1882, he was still alive in 1880 and should be in the 1880 census for Geneva. Yes, he is in the 1880 Federal Census for Geneva. This gives his birthplace as NY also, so perhaps Conn is not correct. It gives his father's birthplace as Canada and his mother's birthplace as Scotland. The surname is listed as FAIRCHILDS. Nelson is a farmer, age 57. Laura is age 54, b NY, both parents b NY. Mina is 19, b Wisconsin. Samuel is age 16, b Wisconsin. His son, Daniel D. is also listed in Geneva in 1880 with wife, Edna, and children Jessie and William, ages 1 and 25. The surname is also listed as FAIRCHILDS. The only other Fairchild or Fairchilds in Geneva in 1880 is a David.
