Hi, I am looking for information on a family that lived in the Lyons Township from around 1893-1903. The husband's name was Fred or Frederick HUDSON. He is found on the 1900 Walworth Federal Census as Fred ED94 Sheet 11 Line 73. He is listed with a wife "Mulla" and children Charley, George, Marie, and Erna. Mulla's birth is listed as Germany and all the children as WI. The wife is listed alone in the 1910 census but Fred is married to someone else by 1903 in Fargo, ND. I would like information on Mulla's listings on the 1910, 1920, 1930 Census. Also Fred did tell his sone many years later like in the 40's or 50's that he had two daughters living in Minneapolis but didn't know where. Would like to know marriage details and rather there was a divorce and what happened to the children. Any info would really be great! Allison
Dear Patti, I have never been to Wisconsin so I am not familiar with all the local resources, but I have many ancestors from Spring Prairie and Lafayette, beginning with my grandmother and going back several generations. They settled the area in the 1840's and I have spent a good many hours researching them the past two years. For my research I have used the two county histories which have sections describing the towns and also some sections about organizing the town governments, churches, etc., (Beckwith & Western Historical). Within these books there are many biographies of local citizens giving a good deal of genealogical information. The Walworth County history by the Western Historical Company printed in 1882 has a history of each town in Walworth County including bios. Besides the two histories, I have found the local cemeteries an excellent resource; the Wisconsin Death Index (Ancestry and also at the Salt Lake Library); and the databases on the "People of Burlington and Vicinity" has lots of Walworth County people included (online). The early newspapers in Walworth County are a treasure trove of information, as are the early town vital records located at the courthouses. Local church records also have yielded good information. Early maps designating the ownership of land are also helpful. Here is a message from the webmaster of the Green and Walworth County Genealogical Societies for those of you who are subscribed to Heritage Quest. If you aren't subscribed and would like to be email me for more information. Thanks and Happy New Year!! I hope that you are all finding time to search the HQ areas and are finding some goodies. I have found a couple of new leads. Donna Here is the info from Deb. Its something I found today while bringing down data from the HQ site: A tip for printing from HQ. Save the page / file into pdf format (HQ gives you this choice). Then using Adobe Acrobat Reader you view the page and print. I have found this printed copy is much cleaner then printing from the computer screen. ps - For those that don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader its a free download at www.adobe.com.

Wisconsin. He appears in the 1880 census in Sharon with children Peter and Catherine Carroll. His last will states he lived in Sharon in 1890 and was friends with James Carney. I know nothing about his life pre-1880 other than he was born in Ireland. His children were: James, John, Peter, Catherine, Ann and others. He was Catholic, but I cannot locate a burial record or grave for him. His son James moved to Fayette Co. Iowa by 1868. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

But, stemming from New York I have about 20-25 to try and link. There was a Frank N Lewis that had an adopted daughter in Wisconsin...Frank also died about the time frame we have been searching. there are Frank. I have been searching for that Old lady Wheeler that you had found. I cant seeem to find her name..do you remember it? I have found LEwis,Burdick and Wheelers related in NY. I think the Old Lady was a grandparent and or Aunt. If I dont hear from you have a safe and wonderful holiday. Lee

May I suggest 3 cemeteries in the area. The very well kept "Utter's Corners" cemetery in the NW corner of Walworth. I haven't figured out how these Utters are related to mine, but there are many Utter graves there. The next is Honey Creek. I have all those names and will look for yours. The last would be the the main cemetery in East Troy where my 3rd greatgrandparents are buried (James and Malinda Utter). Barbara
