He was a woodworker and invented the small wood-turning lathe I was told. Sadly I am removed by one generation too many to know more. Were my mother stillalive she would likely be able to give all manner of details. Of course the geneology of the Burdick Family published c. 1938, THE DESCENDANTS OF ROBERT BURDICK, will likely show the connections between the Burdicks and the Lewises. Three of my six grandchildren are living in Wisconsin, so they are ninth generation residents, although not Burdicks by surname. Regards, Gary Gygax

Hello, I am new to Walworth County research, most of my WI research has been in Rock County. I am searching for any clues as to my ancestors who came to Whitewater, Walworth Co., WI between the years of 1844 - 50. My 2nd great grandmother, Almira "Myra" V. SCOTT born 10 June 1840 at Bridgewater, Oneida Co., NY and came with her father just a few years after her mother passed away when she was a little girl of 4 yrs. old. I find 2 of her siblings living in Dane Co. 1870 Edmund E. b. 1821, NY and John H. b. 1837, NY The sparaticly family lived around Rock Co., 1860, 1880, and John resided there 1910 - 1920. Almira married 1st Isaac Newton Jeffers in Baraboo, Sauk Co., WI and then Almira ("Myra") married 2nd Harry H. STARKS, 1872 in Beloit, Rock Co., WI. Harry was a resident of Monticello, Jones Co., Iowa formerly a resident of Sauk Co., WI I have browsed the 1850 census of Whitewater but cannot find my Horace and family there and have browsed all of Rock Co and counties in NY, the family is plain missing for 1850, but Myra's obit claims they came to Whitewater when she was 4. Almira had two other male siblings according to 1840 census born between the years of 1830 - 35 probably in NY. I believe Horace also lived in Madison Co., NY, Genessee Co., NY and Erie Co., NY. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Best Regards, Sandy
Hi, I don't have specific details about your ancestors. But I can tell you that there were a lot of Wests in Walworth County. (I think Spring Prairie) At the WI Historical Society Area Research Center in Whitewater you can find a copy of the book "West-Barker-Hodges New York to Wisconsin" or something like that. (I'm not sure about the 2nd half of the title.) I'm sure that would give you a lot of information about your West connection. Good Luck! You might want to contact them to see if they have it in archives. There was a Borg farm on North Shore Drive in the 1970's - Mrs. Denise Borg had horses (I believe Arabians) at that time. There was also a Borg factory in town. In the 60's they produced something called "Borgana" (spelling?) that was sort of fake fur-ish. They also made clocks.
Does anyone know how I could get in contact with someone for Old Pioneer Cemetery in Lake Geneva to seek cemetery records on several Kinney family members buried there? Thank Jeff

I'm looking for someone who may have information on the family of Gertrude "Kinney" McAdam and Thomas McAdam. Gertrude was born in Lake Geneva on 08-12-1874. She married Thomas McAdam in Lake Geneva on 02-22-1892. Gertrude's obit stated that she and her family were pioneer residents of the village of Withee for the past 55 years. She and her both lived and died in Withee. Any ideas of getting information? Thanks Jeff

I've tested this with some of my own ancestors that I had the census for as well as members ancestors. Other subscription services have the census records to that you check for a fee and that is how I verified this little dilemma. >From Deb the Webmaster of Green and Walworth County Genealogical Societies
