CHECK out this GREAT Tour to NEW ENGLAND to do RESEARCH on your New England Ancestors! Click Here: http://www.homestead.com/BarronCountyGenealogical/BarronCoGeneNewEnglandTour.html
Maybe a list of these who are opposed to such mailings should be made so the --I assume--majority of us will still get such information without the added cost of postage. Carol
Even though this list is for Taylor County, Wisconsin, and Barron (City) isn't in this county, and this isn't Barron County, and even though the tour is to a place other than in Wisconsin, and even though I couldn't go myself, I found nothing wrong with the posting and in fact, if I could've went, I probably would've went, maybe even with Mom and/or Dad. I know that it also didn't have anything to do with genealogy in or around Taylor County, or the history of the area here, but the tour sounded interesting to me, and if someone doesn't like what they see on a list, they could feel free to remove themselves from the list if they'd like to do so. Maybe there could be a separate mailing list set up for historical tours like that ? If so, I'd be interested in being on the mailing list. Anyway, sorry for posting this "nonsense" posting, but I felt compelled to give my views on this topic. Everyone have a good day and sorry if you're upset that I sent this out, and hope that doing so doesn't get me banned from this mailing list. By the way, I have a first cousin that lives in the Barron area, Rick Jari and he's a lineman for the electric company there. Bernard Jari, Medford, Wisconsin.
Apparently a few people on these mailing lists feel that offering a LEGITIMATE TOUR to NEW ENGLAND for the purposes of GENEALOGICAL & HISTORIC RESEARCH is Spam. Personally I have NEVER heard anything so ridiculous. If GENEALOGICAL & HISTORICAL RESEARCH is NOT the TRUE PURPOSE of these mailing list, then I am sorry we let everyone know this TOUR is available. I also am sorry to hear that the true purpose of these lists is idle chit chat about what family reunion is being held, who went to the dr. yesterday, who's Aunt Sadie just had a wart removed, & who retired from Military Service. ~~ Now, to those of you who TRULY enjoy GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH & HISTORY, & enjoy the idea of having a chance of walking on the same ground your ancestors once walked upon, who truly want a chance to do RESEARCH at the NATIONAL HISTORIC GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY & find the graves of their ancestors, I say this. Please contact us by phone or in an e-mail to us directly at: barroncogene@webtv.net This way we will NOT upset those very very few people who find this TOUR offensive & a huge waste of their gossip time. ~ To those of you who have already SIGNED UP for this TOUR, I say WELCOME ABOARD! ~ For those who want to know what this tour is about: http://www.homestead.com/BarronCountyGenealogical/BarronCoGeneNewEnglandTour.html ~ Thanks! Rosemarie Novak President: Barron County, Wi. Genealogical Society P.S. To those VERY FEW who become upset by this posting, please rest assured, the BARRON COUNTY WI. GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY will not send out another of these NOTICES of GENEALOGICAL TOURS.
That sounds like a wonderful tour, but we will be camp hosts at a Dane Co. park the whole month of Oct. Another great place would be Williamsburg, Va. Good luck with the trip and research. Carol

Hi all: Once again my hard drive died and I lost all my book marks. Would someone kindly send me the addy of the Taylor County web site. Thanks a lot, Roy Czekay rczekay@aol.com http://members.aol.com/rczekay
Hi Bob, The Taylor County Genealogical Society did a church records survey, and for St. Ann's of Greenwood, it indicates that the records are held by the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church P.O. Box 295 Rib Lake, WI 54470-0295 They charge $5.00 an hour for genealogical research, and 10 cents for copies. My recent experience suggests it is far better to go thru the County for Death Certificates than the State. In Jan and Feb I requested death certificates from the state for my ggf and ggm. both checks cleared in Feb. I sent a letter 21 Apr requesting the status, they gave me the order numbers they assigned for each request and advised it generally takes 3 to 6 months to complete. I am still waiting! In frustration I ordered them thru Taylor County on the 26th of April and received my ggm's death certificate today. apparently there is no death record for my ggf who died 11 Jan 1887, they returned my $7.00. I tip my hat to the folk's in Taylor County! Bob Monheim, Norfolk Va
Emil: I believe the nearest Catholic Church is St. Peter and St. Pauls' Catholic Church. Their mailing address is: P.O. Box 100, Gilman, WI 54433 In the information that they completed for the Taylor County Genealogical Society church book, they indicate that they have records for 1934-present for sure. Some earlier cases, but difficult to read, and several gaps. Also, Roosevelt township is located in the western part of Taylor County. It is very likely that someone who was sick would have been taken to possibly Chippewa or Clark counties. Most likely Chippewa Falls.
