He was born July 2, 1943, in Little Falls, Minn., the son of John M. and Bernice E. (Johnson) Haller, and grew up in the Hudson area attending St. Patrick’s Grade School and Hudson High School. As a young man in 1961, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served for four years. After serving in the military he was employed at North Star Steel in St. Paul as a maintenance engineer. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports and war movies. Surviving are two children, Robin (David) Vadnais of Woodbury, Minn., and Tracy Haller of Lake Zurich, Ill.; two grandchildren, Chelsea and Joshua Vadnais; his mother, Bernice Haller of North Hudson; and two sisters, Betty (Tim) Caruso of Hudson and Nancy (David) Bowman of Maple Grove, Minn. Preceding him in death was his father, John Haller, in 1994. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hudson. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
