A memorial service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Chapel in Cable, with Pastor Richard Rickus officiating. She was born Nov. 21, 1950, in Ashland, the daughter of Irvin E. “Pete” and Doris (Olson) Frels, and grew up on the Namekagon River, next to the Cable Union Airport, where she worked briefly. After finishing high school, she moved to Madison and worked in various positions. Most recently, she was employed by the Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49 and she was proud to have worked on many bridge projects in Wisconsin and Minnesota. In life, she loved ’57 Chevys and spending time with her family and friends on her parents’ farm in Cable. Surviving are her parents, Irvin and Doris Frels of Cable; two sisters, Judy (Duane) Lewison of Madison and Debra Frels of Chicago; five brothers, William (Jill) of Columbia, Md., John of Faribault, Minn., Carl (Jessica) of Dalton, Penn., Chris (Rose) of San Diego, Calif., and Mark (Krista) of Cable; five nieces, Heisley, Shantal, Danielle, Jenna and Hannah; and two nephews, Ryan and Brandon.
