He was born Jan. 29, 1904, in the town of St. Joseph, the son of William Henry and Emma (Parent) Simon. For many years he was a farmer in the town of St. Joseph. Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Emma Simon; his wife, the former Alice Rivard, in 1972; two brothers, James and Joseph Simon; two sisters, Bessie Landry and Lucy Dorgan; and two infant sons. He is survived by six children, Maurice W. (Mary) Simon Jr. of White Bear Lake, Minn., Haulis (Ilene) Simon and Marcel Simon, both of New Richmond, Anita Stephens of Chambersburg, Ill., William (Barb) Simon of Roseville, Minn., and Patricia Ann (Sid) Bokken of Colts Neck, N.J.; 31 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somerset with Fr. James Brinkman officiating. Music was provided by Janelle Sutherland. Visitation was one and a half hours before the service. Burial was in St. Anne’s Cemetery where pallbearers were James Simon, Sheila Urman, Mary Kusak, Mike Simon, Alex Brokken, Adrian A.J. Brokken, Pam Emerson and Troy Simon.
