She was born Feb. 28, 1938, in Owen, the daughter of Marius and Mabel (Wigstadt) Miolund, and graduated from Owen High School in the class of 1956. On Sept. 3, 1960, she was married to Daniel Poppe at the Danish Lutheran Church in Withee. As a young woman, she worked for Employee Mutual Insurance Company in Wausau, Eggen’s Grocery in Baldwin and later for the Toro Manufacturing Company in Hudson. After her children were grown, she worked for the Baldwin Care Center in the dietary department and the Baldwin Hospital in housekeeping and materials management. She enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, cooking for her family and writing letters and greeting cards. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors are her husband, Daniel; three children, Mark (Kim) Poppe of Hudson, James Poppe and Kay (Mike) Dorwin of both Baldwin; six grandchildren, Heather Dorwin, Trevor Poppe, Hannah Poppe, Eric Dorwin, Nathan Poppe and Kristina Poppe; two brothers-in-law, Bob (Julia) Poppe of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jack (Pat) Poppe of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Bev (Carl) Sillampa of Owen and Janet Zaborowski of Marshfield; and her dog, Smokie. Preceding her in death were her parents; her parents-in-law, Robert and Violet Poppe; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Evelyn Poppe; and a sister-in-law, Helen Poppe. The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Baldwin with Pastor Steven Rice officiating. Pianist Michele Lee accompanied the singing of Laurie Jasurda. Burial was in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Curtiss with her family serving as casketbearers. The O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin handled arrangements.
