Wentlandt, 83 Thursday, July 22, 2004 Lorraine Adeline Wentlandt, 83, of Hudson died Friday, July 17, at the Christian Community Home of Hudson. She was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Hudson, the daughter of Irving R. and O. Amanda (Borgen) Swanson. She was raised in Hudson, attended local schools and graduated from Hudson High School with the class of 1940. On April 2, 1942, in Riverside, Calif., she was married to Quentin Wayne Wentlandt. She was an excellent waitress at a number of local restaurants including the Hudson Harbor, JR Ranch, Country House, Afton House and most recently at Uncle Barney's. She was a cousin of the celebrated cartoonist of international fame, Charles Schulz (1922-2000), the creator of the comic strip “Peanuts.” Schulz, as young boy in St. Paul, frequently came to Hudson to visit the Swanson family. She and her famous cousin were in contact with one another by letter and phone over the years. She was a charter member of the Charles Schulz Museum and Center in California. Survivors are two daughters, Donna Mae (Gary) Shaffer of Lakewood, Colo., and Susan Ann (Melvin G.) Solsvig of Hudson; three grandchildren, Tania and Monte Solsvig, both of Hudson, and Cary Shaffer; a great-grandchild, Ashley Letourneau; four special nephews, David (Hilda) Swanson of Hudson, Patrick Zeuli, Peter (Amy) Zeuli and Brad (Colette) Zeuli, all of Stillwater. Preceding her in death were her husband, Quentin Wentlandt, on Oct. 3, 2002; her parents; two brothers, Stanley Swanson in 1939 and Raymond O. Swanson in 1976; and two sisters, Helen Swanson in 1918 and Dorothy June (Louis P.) Zeuli in 1994. A memorial service is at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson with Pastor Karen Ditlefsen officiating. Burial will follow in Willow River Cemetery.
