Schouten, 96 Friday, June 18, 2004 Dagmar M. Schouten, 96, of Glenwood City died Saturday, June 12, at Glenhaven Care Center in Glenwood City. She was born Oct. 20, 1907, in Glenwood City, the daughter of Christian and Johanna (Jensen) Hansen, and graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1926. On April 12, 1930, she was married Jake Schouten in Glenwood City, where they lived most of their lives. A homemaker and full-time mother, she worked at Friday Canning Company and as a cook at the school. She was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and a participant in its activities throughout much of her life. She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking for others, gardening, playing cards and sharing stories and laughs. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jake, in 1983; a sister; four brothers; a son, Leo; a grandson, Michael Schouten; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Schouten and Carter Sandquist. Surviving are three sons, Ken (Lorraine) Schouten of Emerald, Cliff Schouten of Baxter, Tenn., and Gerald (Deborah) Schouten of Hudson; a daughter, Karen (Robert) Bullock of Altoona; 11 grandsons, six granddaughters, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, with the Rev. Ralph Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood City Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Holy Cross Building Fund or Glenhaven Care Center.
