She was born Feb. 18, 1912 in the town of Troy, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Mayer) Von Kuster. Her family was among the original pioneers in the German Settlement in the town of Troy, St. Croix County, in 1852. She was born and raised on the family farm and attended school until the eighth grade at the Pleasant View Country School. On Sept. 17, 1934, at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls, she was married to Edwin J. Stock.. She was a dedicated homemaker and lived and worked on the farm since her childhood and continued farming side by side with her husband. They farmed in the River Falls and Hudson areas until 1972, when they moved to Hudson. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing cards, and helping friends, family and neighbors. Surviving are two daughters, Lucille (Darwin) Edgar of Hallsville, Mo., and Shirley (Norman) Matzek of Hudson; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Edwin, in 1999 and an infant son, Edward, in 1942. She was the last of her immediate family, being preceded by six brothers and two sisters. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson with Father Peter Szleszinski officiating. Elsie Sandquist was the organist and accompanied vocalist Barbara Gagliardi. Music was also provided by the Hope Choir. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Hudson with grandsons, Ronald, Gregory and Bradley Edgar, Jeffrey and Michael Matzek and great-grandson Shawn Weilep serving as pallbearers. Memorials are preferred to the Plum City Care Center or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
