He was born Feb. 28, 1949, in River Falls, the seventh son of John and Harriett (Brathall) Prause. He was raised in Roberts where he went to grade school and later attended St. Croix Central High School. In 1967 he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. On March 18, 1972, he married Nancy Medes of Boyceville, and they lived in River Falls until moving to Hudson in 1974. For nearly 20 years, he was employed with Standard Color of St. Paul and ended his career with Keystone of Minneapolis before leaving in September 2003 for health reasons. Surviving are his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Rustie (David) Prechel of Stoughton; a son, Lucas Prause of Hudson; three grandchildren, Seth, Bryce and Fiona Prechel; five brothers, Eugene (Janice) Prause of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Bruce (Jeanette) Prause of Glenwood, Minn.; Ronald (Diana) Prause of St. Peters, Mo., Jerry (Marie) Prause of Woodville and Donald (Christine) Prause of Altoona; and two sisters, Joanne (Robert) Werner of Eau Claire and Linda Lomblo of New Richmond. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, David Prause, in 1992. He requested a simple funeral service and an open house was conducted in his honor, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Hudson. A private family committal service will be at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
