Cline, 88 Friday, November 05, 2004 Earl H. Cline, 88, of Hudson and formerly of Hobe Sound, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 31, at Hudson Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1916, in Flanders, N.J., the son of Earl Henry Sr. and Pauline (Coultas) Cline, and was raised and attended school in Flanders. In 1939 he married Lucille Adams. During World War II, in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. While on a flight mission, in the European Theater of War, he was shot down over Berlin, Germany, and subsequently was held as a prisoner of war until the termination of hostilities. He was eventually released by U.S. forces and honorably discharged. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. For 40 years, he owned and operated Earl’s Sun Service Station in Irvington, N.J., and then owned and operated Cline’s Anchorage Marina in Brielle, N.J. In 1997, he was married to Dolores Brownson, and they lived in Hobe Sound, Fla., prior to moving to Hudson. He loved hunting, boating, cooking, playing, watching golf and meticulously maintaining his cars. Surviving are his wife, Dolores Brownson Cline; a daughter, Jeanne Cline of Manasquan, N.J.; three stepsons, Jim (Trudy) Brownson and Tom (Meg) Brownson, both of Stillwater, and Bob (Maureen) Brownson of Deep Haven, Minn.; two grandchildren, Susan Maudsley Barrett and Kim (Brian) Roznoy; four great- grandchildren, Charles Barrett, Evan Roznoy, Jamie Roznoy and Tess Roznoy; eight step-grandchildren, Jenny Fitzgerald, Ann, Amy, Scott, Erika, Mike, Jim and Matt Brownson. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Lucille, and two children, Barbara Irene Maudsley and Bill Allen Cline. The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the St. Croix Valley United Methodist Church in Lakeland with Pastor Paul Walters officiating. Organist Barb Kolbe accompanied the vocalist Roy Baker. Burial will be private.
