She was born, Feb. 10, 1934, in Woodville, the daughter of Clarence and Helma (Peterson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville and was a member of the Hammond United Congregational Church of Christ at the time of her death. She attended grade school at Woodville and graduated from Woodville High School in 1952 as the salutatorian of her class. On Nov. 28, 1953, she was married to Rexford John Grinnell at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. She worked for the Hammond News from 1953 to 1962 and then at the Woodville Leader office from 1962 to 1997. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, fishing, watching sports on television and being outdoors. They lived in Woodville before moving to Hammond, but returned to Woodville in 1985. Surviving are her husband, Rex; two sons, Richard Grinnell and Randy (Cheryl) Grinnell, both of Hudson; two daughters, Brenda Grinnell (and her friend, Kip Lee), and Roxanne (Jeff) Hielkema, both of Woodville; two sisters, Irene (Gordon) Anderson of Spring Valley and Mildred (Galen) Anderson of Woodville; a brother, Donald (Darlene) Olson of Baldwin; two sisters-in-law, Eva Olson of Amery and Dolores Grinnell of Bruce; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Stanley Olson; a nephew, Gary Anderson; and three stepsons, Ricky, Terry and Roland Grinnell. The funeral was at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at the Hammond United Congregational Church of Christ with Pastor Jed Watson officiating. Organist Wendy Dusek accompanied congregational singing. Burial was in the Sunset Cemetery in Woodville, where casketbearers were grandsons Jason Grinnell, Jeff Grinnell, Jared Reinhardt, Bryce Reinhardt, Chad Gustafson and Trevor Davis. Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials are preferred.
