She was born Sept. 30, 1948, in the town of Cady, St. Croix County, the daughter of Hagner and Linda (Robole) Gunderson, was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Presently she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hammond. She attended Baldwin-Woodville School, graduating with the class of 1967. On March 23, 1968, she was married to Lamoine Roatch at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Over the years, Jan worked a variety of jobs. She also continued her education by taking classes in accounting and business at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in New Richmond. While living in Ellsworth she worked at the Ben Franklin Store. A few years later, she and her husband moved to Hammond where Jan stayed at home and cared for the children. From 1979 until 1991 she was employed at Realty World Dowd Reliance in Baldwin doing secretarial work, and during the 1990s, she worked as an assistant closer for Minnesota Title, then as administrative manager at Heritage Title Company and Century 21, all in Hudson. Since 1998, she has worked for the Estreen and Ogland law firm in Hudson. She loved being with her family spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her time at the lake/river, vacationing with her family and sisters, going for walks, shopping, golfing, camping and playing the organ. Preceding her in death was a nephew, Steven Serier, and her grandparents, Ole and Nana (Swenson) Gunderson and Eric and Clara (Holt) Robole. Survivors are her husband, Lamoine; a son, Troy (Jenny) Roatch of Campbellsport; a daughter, Wendy (Ben) Heinrich of Hammond; three grandchildren, Nicole Roatch, and Taylor and Peyton Heinrich; her parents, Hagner and Linda Gunderson of Hudson; three brothers, Lyle (Sonja) Gunderson of Baldwin, Auldin (Bonnie) Gunderson of Roberts and Dennis (Bonnie) Gunderson of Woodville; six sisters, Gloria (Frank) Schulte of Baldwin, Carolyn (Chuck) Serier of Woodville, Kathy (Brian) Lundquist of Lakeville, Minn., Kay (Arlyn) Pax of Menomonie, Amy (John) Betchwars of Hudson and Patty (Gary) Fern of Baldwin; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Sharon) Roatch of Spring Valley and Richard Roatch of Elmwood; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Eugene) Andrle of River Falls and Mary Hines of Ellsworth. Visitation was Friday, July 30, from 4-8 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville with the Rev. Keith Anderson officiating. Special music was provided by organist Judy Albrightson and vocalist Amy Ballew. Private family burial will be at a later date in the Hammond Cemetery in Hammond.
