Harnish, 79 Friday, May 28, 2004 Wayne O. Harnish, 79, of Hudson died Friday May 14, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. He was born, Sept. 10, 1924 in Adams, the son of Kurt H. and Julia L. (Sharapata) Harnish and attended Adams Grade School prior to graduating from Adams-Friendship High School in Adams. He furthered his education by receiving a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. In April 1943, he enlisted in the in the U. S. Army Air Corp in April 1943 where he served until his honorable discharge in 1945. On June 30, 1946, he was married to Jean M. Bredeson at the Congregational Church in Adams. He developed many friends over the years as an engineer for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company in St. Paul. His hobbies and interests included working in his woodshop, gardening, hunting, fishing, music and singing. He was very active member of his church. Surviving are his wife, Jean of Hudson; two sons, Dr. Dennis W. Harnish of Alexandria, Minn., and Donald M. Harnish of St. Paul; two grandchildren, Keri S. Harnish of Richfield, Minn., and Dr. Derek W. Harnish of Portland, Ore. Preceding him in death were his parents. A memorial service was at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, at the United Methodist Church in Hudson with Rev. Dr. Joan Goebel officiating. Organist Harriet Christianson accompanied vocal soloist William Kurschel. Burial with full military honors was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial will be established in Wayne Harnish’s name.
