Erickson, 78 Everett Elroy Erickson, 78, of Baldwin died at his home of lung cancer Sunday, July 27. He was born in Baldwin, Jan. 16, 1925, the son of Carl and Selma (Nelson) Erickson. He attended Pleasant Grove School through the eighth grade and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army as a medical technician from Dec. 13, 1945, to March 13, 1947. On Jan. 2, 1948, in Hudson, he was married to Frieda Lawson. He first did carpenter work, but for 33 years he farmed south of Baldwin and did trucking. In 1982 he sold the farm to his son, and he and his wife built a new home on the 20 acre wooded area adjacent to their original farm. He retired in 1986 and sold the milk route. He was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, now known as Peace Lutheran Church. In retirement he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, playing cards and having coffee with his friends at Ray’s or Hardee’s. Surviving are his wife, Frieda; two sons, Steve Erickson of Clear Lake and Bruce (Jane) Erickson of Baldwin; a daughter, Marsha Shafer of Roberts; five grandchildren, Chad (Stacy) Shafer of Baldwin, Kari Shafer and Todd Shafer, both of Roberts, Jill Erickson and Brice Erickson, both of Baldwin; and a godchild, Deb Creaser of Chippewa Falls. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant son and two brothers, Don and Dale. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin with Pastor John Hanson officiating. Burial was in Woodside Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Baldwin American Legion. Active casketbearers were Chad Shafer, Brice Erickson, Daren Erickson, Jerry Hanson and Peter Hince. Honorary bearers were Harry Deets, Glen Hensley, Elmer Serier and Elmer Ramberg.
