Marie was born May 4, 1918. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Teacher’s College and taught for many years in one-room schoolhouses in St. Croix County. Marie switched careers after raising her family and joyfully worked 20 years at Holy Family Hospital caring for new mothers and their babies. Marie had an unusual zest for life, for people, and loved to read and discover new things. Marie will be lovingly missed by her children, Dave (Gayle), Rita (Craig), Mike (Rose), Dan (Julie), Paul, Joan (Denny), and Pat; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chance (Shelly) and Adam, Bridgett (Dave), Justin (Alisha) and Trevor, Katie (Matt) and Sophie and Gwen, Shannon (Jason), Nathan, Simone and Kelli; sisters-in-law Anne and Shirley; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard, and also by her sister Camille and brothers, Bill, Fran, Ted, and Ralph. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Somerset. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at Cullen Funeral Home, New Richmond with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
