She was born Sept. 19, 1929 in New Richmond. She graduated from River Falls Teacher’s College in 1950 and taught school in Amery for one year. She married Larry Casey March 31, 1951 and raised a large family. She was active in the local Catholic church and Al Anon for 41 years and was a fixture at her children’s and children’s friends’ events. All who were fortunate enough to know her were regarded as a trusted friend and were welcome at the dinner table and cookie jar. She is preceded in death by infant sons, Jimmy, Martin and Dick; parents Joseph and Alice Gillis; brother Francis; and brother-in-law John Wells. She is survived by husband Larry; sons, Steve (Doris Phillips), Bill (Lillis), Brian, Lee (friend Ann Goodlad), Tony (friend Cathe Cheesebrow), Terry (Kathy), Joe (Michelle); daughters, Mary Lou (Jeff) Bean, Kathleen (Mike) Young, Jane Weiss (friend Jerry Larson); grandchildren, Scott, Jackie, Andy, Jolene, Shannon, Lindsey, Claire, Jeff; brothers, Jack (Rosemary) Gillis, Ed (Ellen) Gillis; sisters, Anita Wells, Sister Elizabeth Gillis; sisters-in-law, Rita Gillis, Loretta Casey; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Cullen Funeral Home, New Richmond with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to service at the church. Fathers Jerry Harris and Al Bradley and Deacon Larry Murphy will officiate. Music will be provided by Barb Peterson and Anne Anez. Pallbearers will be Steve, Bill, Brian, Lee, Tony, Terry and Joe Casey. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
