Ray, 77 Kathleen Phyllis Ray, 77, of Hudson died Thursday, Aug. 7, at Hudson Hospital, where she had been a patient for three days. She was born in Milwaukee Oct. 3, 1925, the daughter of LeRoy Chris and Anna Margaret (Pedersen) Petersen, and came to Hudson with her parents at an early age. She attended Hudson school and graduated from Hudson High School with the class of 1943. On Aug. 25, 1951, in Princeton, Minn., she was married to Darrell James Ray. She was employed by Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company in St. Paul prior to her marriage. Later, after her children were raised, she resumed work at 3M. In Hudson she was a member of the First Baptist Church and later became affiliated with the United Methodist Church. She served on several committees, was active in the Ladies Guild and taught Sunday School. She and her husband were active charter members of the Willow River Antique Car Club in Burkhardt and enjoyed traveling in the five-state area to attend various car shows and see old friends. After the death of her husband, Darrell, April 6, 1985, she sold their home and moved to WinterGreen apartments in Hudson, where she resided for 10 years. About four years ago, she left WinterGreen and entered Pine Ridge, a facility for assisted living, in Hudson. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 2115 through the service of her husband as a World War II veteran. Besides her husband, Darrell, she was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are two sons, Michael Ray of River Falls and James Ray of Hudson; a daughter, Nancy (James) Gonsioroski of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; three sisters, Jean (Ronald) Schwartz of Faribault, Minn., Dorothy (George E.) Nelson and Audrey (Dean) Larson, both of Hudson; a brother, David L. (Jane) Petersen of Hudson; and six grandchildren, Michaela Ray, Samara Ray, Jordan Ray, Benjamin Gonsioroski, Zachary Gonsioroski and Elliott Gonsioroski. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Randy Fredrikson of the First Baptist Church officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Beth Ray and organist Ruth Ashwood. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, where casketbearers were nephews Bob Petersen, Jeff Nelson, David Nelson, Rick Schwartz, Bill Schwartz and Tim Schwartz.
