Spanton, 68 Sept. 2, 1934 - Aug. 4, 2003 Mary R. Spanton of New Richmond died Monday, Aug. 4 at her home. Mary was born Sept. 2, 1934 in Minneapolis to Julius and Mabel (Holmes) Johansen. She graduated from Excelsior High School with the Class of 1952. She greatly appreciated the class’ friendship through the years. She married Milton D. Spanton, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton and parents, Julius “Joe” and Mable. She is survived by her sons, Milton III (Lynn), Thomas (Dawn), William (Jennifer); grandchildren, Betsy, Shantih, David, Ariel and Heidi; brother Thomas (Sharon) Johansen; dear friends, Betty Brown, Susie Spanton and Marge Paulson. Memorial services were held Friday, Aug. 8, at Christ Lutheran Church in Somerset. Interment was in the Bethesda Cemetery in rural Dresser.
