She was born in St. Paul, Sept. 29, 1918, the daughter of Benjamin and Rose Krivanek, and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1936. On Aug. 4, 1941, she was married to Keith Elwood in Florida while he was serving the U.S. Army. They made their home in St. Paul where they were members of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She was employed as a typesetter for West Publishing Co. in St. Paul prior to her retirement in 1983. She moved to Hudson in 1997. She was an avid golfer and loved traveling and gardening. Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Clark) Staehling of Friendship; two sons, Keith (Michelle) Elwood of Baldwin and Gary (Linda) Elwood of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Bret Staehling, Kalli Staehling, Leah Thomas, Megan Arneson, Travis Elwood and John Elwood; and seven great-grandchildren, Colin and Courtney Arneson, Jeffrey, Jordan and Jessica Thomas, Cole and Mia Staehling. Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Keith, in 1959. A funeral service will be at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 31.
