She was born in Amery Sept. 14, 1915 to William and Ranghold (Lindahl) Lundgren. Frances graduated from Amery High School in 1934. She worked as a housekeeper and cook for the Wallaces on Summit Ave. in St. Paul, Minn. and later becoming employed as an operator for Bell Telephone. Fran returned home to East Farmington to care for her ill mother. Here she met and was courted by Bennie Andrew Nelson. They were married July 27, 1946 in St. Paul, Minn. Frances enjoyed gardening, cooking, and being a mother and homemaker for her five children and husband Bennie. She loved nature and animals, especially her dogs, Boots, Tippy, Frisky, Carrie and Ike. When her children grew older, Fran worked outside the home at Friday Canning Corporation and the Arsenal in New Brighton, Minn. Her volunteer work at Zion Lutheran Church in Farmington created many lasting friendships, especially the ladies of circle #6. One dear childhood friend, Ann Ellingboe, remained in close contact throughout her life. They wrote each other frequently, sometimes daily. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bennie; five sisters, Alice, Edna, Mabel, Rose and Florence; two brothers, Melvin and Leonard. She is survived by her daughters, Janice (Richard) Thompson of Osceola, Beth Murphy of St. Paul, Minn., Gloria (Harry) Nelson of Star Prairie, Susan (Richard Anderson) Nelson of St. Paul, Minn.; her son Gregory (Ann-deceased) Nelson of Osceola; brother Bob (Margaret) Lundgren of Osceola; good family friend, Sharon Solum of St. Paul, Minn.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 25 at Zion Lutheran Church in East Farmington with Reverend Carroll Sengbusch officiating. Organist was Marilyn Nelson. Casketbearers were Frances’ grandsons, Christopher Nelson, Tom Murphy, Gunner Anderson, Darron Nelson, Kyle Nelson and Dan Connelly. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in East Farmington.
