Hudson, 82 Earl Edward Hudson of River Falls, formerly of Hudson and Houlton, died Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Lutheran Home in River Falls. He was born in Wright County, Minn., May 30, 1920, the son of James Arthur and Cecelia (Smith) Lewis, and came to Hudson with his parents as a youngster. As a young man in the 1930s, he served in the Wisconsin Civilian Conservation Corps. He entered the U.S. Army Oct. 15, 1940, and served until July 11, 1945. During World War II he had duty as a truck driver in New Guinea, Papua, South Philippines and Luzon in the South Pacific Theater of War. On Oct. 16, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, he was married to Judith Ann Lewis. After the war he was employed at United Refrigerator Company in Hudson and later worked for Seeger/Whirlpool in St. Paul for more than 28 years, until he retired. He enjoyed yard work, flowers and fishing. For the past seven and a half years he had been a resident at the Lutheran Home in River Falls. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Judith A. Hudson, in 1999; a stillborn son, Jack; two brothers, Walter and William Hudson; and two sisters, Laura Schullo and Catherine Carter. Surviving are his daughter, Linda (Roger C.) Norelius of North Hudson; a granddaughter, Cheryl (David) Belisle of Stillwater; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Belisle.
