She was born in Hudson July 25, 1946, the daughter of Frank E. and Opal (Adams) Porter, and attended Hudson schools. She attended the United Methodist Church and Sunday school in Hudson and was a member of the Brownies. She attended Ritter School of Cosmetology in St. Paul and was manager of the family-owned private catering business for many years. She also was a certified nursing assistant and a caregiver for 38 years. Her first marriage to William Foley ended in divorce. Survivors are her husband, Pat Shinners of Seattle; her mother, Opal Porter of Hudson; two daughters, Brenda and Gena Foley of Stillwater, Minn.; two sisters, Sharon Triebold and Vicki Gerhardt, both of Roberts; a brother, Frank Porter of Hudson; three grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan and Lindsey; eight stepchildren and 11 step-grandchildren, all of Seattle. Preceding her in death was her father, Frank E. Porter, who died in 2001. A dinner for family and friends will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, Minn.
