Shoemaker, 77 Otto Milton Shoemaker, 77, of Menomonie died Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Dunn County Health Center in Menomonie. He was born June 17, 1925, in Rice Lake, the son of Owen and Nina (Blaylock) Shoemaker, attended elementary school in Wascott and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre of War. On March 7, 1946, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, he was married to Dona Marie Rose. He graduated in 1950 from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee and then worked in several Wisconsin funeral homes until he returned to Menomonie in 1957. For more than 30 years he was employed as a funeral director with the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie until he retired in 1990. He also was a representative of the Johnson Monument Company for many years. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1584, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1039 and the American Legion Post No. 32. He was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge No. 164 F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in Eau Claire, the Zor Shrine in Madison and the Mehara Shrine Club. Also, he was a member of the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association. Survivors are his wife, Dora, of Menomonie; four sons Thomas Shoemaker of River Falls, Richard Shoemaker of Menomonie, David (Jane) Shoemaker of Sheboygan and James (Peggy) Shoemaker of Hudson; a daughter, Nancy (Bill) Kern of Waldo; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy (Esther) Shoemaker of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his father-in-law, Herman Rose of Chippewa Falls. Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Cora Huray; a brother, Harry Shoemaker; and his mother-in-law, Alvina Rose. Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie with the Rev. Dave Whelan officiating. Burial was in Peace Lutheran Cemetery with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor guard.
