Born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1905, in Westin (Dunn County), the daughter of Samuel and Rosella (Murphy) Rose, she attended school in Hudson. On Oct. 31, 1927, she was married to Howard Brown in Minneapolis, Minn. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and prayed the rosary daily. She loved dancing, entertaining others and was an active member of the Happy Grannies performing group. Other hobbies included making crafts, baking and cooking for her family and attending family reunions. She also assisted Elsie Mulvaney in catering. Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard, in 1966; three sisters, Ellen Ehrenreich, Jenny Lieberenz and Gladys Krogstad; a brother, Fred Rose; a son-in-law, Bill Bethke; two grandsons, Scott Bethke and Howard Samuel Brown; a great-grandson, Rick Muenich; and a great-great-grandson, Nathan Richard Muenich. Surviving are five children, Howard (Dorothy) Brown of Hudson, Phyllis (Patrick) Moriarty of Stillwater, Minn., Donna (Clyde) Christensen of Hudson, Sally Bethke of Stillwater and Nancy (Dale) Carmichael of Bayport; 17 grandchildren, Dianne Hale, Patti Muenich, Jody Miranda, Dennis Moriarty, Robert Moriarty, Rick Moriarty, Debbie Moriarty, Kevin Christensen, Kent Christensen, Keri Kennedy, Kelly Johnson, Bill Bethke, Troy Bethke, Shane Bethke, Shannon Stevens, Brian Carmichael and Bradley Carmichael; 31 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores (Alton) Benoy of Frederic; and friends Alice Nord and Elsie Mulvaney. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Revs. Peter Szleszinski and Jim Dabruzzi concelebrating. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
