Margaret Johnson, 84 S. Margaret Johnson, 84, of Hudson died Wednesday, Jan. 1, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Born Sept. 6, 1918, in rural Cumberland to John and Hilma (Brannstrom) Erickson, she was raised by Erik and Anna Renstrom of Cumberland. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1936, River Falls Normal School in 1938 and taught school for seven years in rural Polk County. On Feb. 24, 1945, she married O. Edward Johnson at Trinity Lutheran Church in McKinley Township. The couple moved to Hudson, where Margaret worked for Nor-Lake Inc. as a bookkeeper for 25 years, retiring in 1983. She was active in various church activities, a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, and was an original member of the Hudson Heritage Quilters. She also volunteered at the Octagon House, Willow River State Park, The Phipps Center and the Hudson Public Library. Preceding her in death were her husband, O. Edward Johnson; three sisters, Julia Lundquist, Vera Betrosoff and Esther Dombrock. Surviving are two daughters, Sally (Gunter) Schilling of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Mary Johnson of Apple Valley, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Ernest) Unger and Myrtle Johnson of Richfield, Minn.; and a brother-in-law, George Lundquist of Willmar, Minn. A memorial service was Saturday, Jan. 4, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Hudson with Pastor Keith Lueneburg officiating and Susan Lueneburg accompanying congregational singing. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery.
