Wallner, 78 Irene Mae Catherine Wallner, 78, of Stewartville, Minn., mother of Helen (Daniel J.) Nicholson of Hudson, died Saturday, Jan. 4, in Hastings, Minn., where she had lived the past two years. She was born April 25, 1924, in Grand Meadow, Minn., where she grew up on the family farm, attended rural school and Grand Meadow High School. On Feb. 9, 1941, she was married to Herbert Wallner in rural Grand Meadow. The couple farmed all of their lives. Irene was a longtime member of the neighborhood Sunshine Club. Surviving besides her daughter Helen Nicholson are two sons, Melvyn J. Wallner of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Dale H. (Linda) Wallner of Hastings, Minn.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters. Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 8, 10:30 a.m., in Stewartville, Minn. Visitation was Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and at the church one hour prior to the service.
