Butenschoen, 81 Mary C. Butenschoen, 81, of Hudson, formerly of Rosemount, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Hudson Hospital. She was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Colby, the daughter of Leo and Hildegard (Ohlinger) Apfelbeck. On June 25, 1949, she was married to Arnold P. Butenschoen. Among her hobbies were snowmobiling and gardening, especially African violets. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Adeline Dalke and Stella Dobner; and a brother, Francis Apfelbeck. Surviving are her husband, Arnold, of Hudson; three children, Daniel (Susan) Butenschoen of Huntley, Ill., Linda (Randy) Froehlich of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Sharon (Michael) White of Hudson; six grandchildren, Jeff Butenschoen, Christy Butenschoen, James (Debie) Froehlich, Dale (Lisa) Froehlich, John (Teresa) Goggin and Michael Goggin; three great-grandchildren Tyler, Jordan and Chayce Goggin; five sisters, Monica Biter of New Auburn, Theresa Rindt, Milly Utes and Pearl Nosbich, all of Colby, and Jenny Abegglin of Stetsonville; and two brothers, John Apfelbeck of Idaho and Leo “Buck” Apfelbeck Jr. of Chippewa Falls. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 31, 3-9 p.m., at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines, Ill. The funeral was Saturday, Feb. 1, 9:15 a.m., at St. Beatrice Church in Schiller Park, Ill. Burial was in Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Ill. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or donor’s choice.
