Purcell, 55, died Sept. 22, 2002 Daniel J. Purcell, 55, of Hudson was found dead at his home Sunday, Sept. 22. He was born in Chicago, Sept. 19, 1947, the son of Joseph and Rosemary (Spear) Purcell. He graduated from Brother Rice High School in Chicago in 1965 and the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, in 1969. For more than 25 years he was employed by Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. as a senior account representative. He loved being a hockey fan as he had played the sport in college and later coached many of his son's teams. He also enjoyed being on the water. Survivors include his son, Brett Purcell of Hudson; a sister, Kathleen (John ) Malone of Far Hills, N.J.; nieces and nephews Megan Malone, Jeff Malone and Wendy (Pete) Harris; and his former wife, Lois Purcell of Dumfries, Va. Preceding him in death were his parents Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson with the Rev. Peter Szleszinski officiating. Music will be provided by the Hope Choir accompanied by Elsie Sandquist. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m., with prayers at 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Hudson.
