Ecker, 96 Rose Mae Ecker, 96, of Hudson died Friday, Oct. 25, at Hudson Hospital. She was born July 4, 1906, the daughter of W. Herman and Bertha (Berlin) Boesel of Wolsey, S.D., and attended school through the eighth grade in Wolsey. As a young woman at the age of 13, she left home to start working. On Dec. 18, 1923, in Huron, S.D., she was married to Alfred A. Ecker. They moved to Baldwin in 1924, to rural Hudson in 1953 and to the city of Hudson in 1955. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and canning. >From 1970 until her death she was a resident of Croix View Apartments at 1015 Second St. She is survived by a son, Allen (Darlene) Ecker of Hudson; three daughters, Donna Peck of Hammond, Carol (Robert) Bennett of Beldenville and Leona (Richard) Kinney of Hudson; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ecker of Hudson; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Fritz Boesel of Wolsey; and a sister, Anna Langbehm of Wessington, S.D. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Alfred Ecker, in 1974; a son, Kenneth Ecker, in 1985; a son-in-law, George Peck, in 1994; a grandson, John Kinney, in 1997; four brothers, Frank, Albert, Henry and William Boesel; and five sisters, Alma Chester, Minnie Doolittle, Mary Bothner, Edith Lewis and Hannah Baum. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson with Pastor Dennis Nelson officiating. Providing music for the service were Roberta Pominville and Monica Weeks. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Hudson and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery, where pallbearers were Mark Bennett, John Bennett, Gary Ecker, Steve Ecker and Tim Ecker.
