Dicke, 91, died Sept. 26, 2002 Dorothy Delores Dicke, 91, of Hudson, widow of the late Pastor Martin Dicke, died Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. She was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Merrill, the daughter of Charles F. and Johanna (Rusch) Hackbart, and attended elementary school at Trinity Lutheran School in Merrill prior to graduating from Merrill High School. She furthered her education when she graduated from Merrill Business College. On June 8, 1932, in Merrill, she was married to Pastor Martin Henry Dicke. She worked as a stenographer for the Merrill Candy Company before dedicating her time to being a homemaker and helpmate to her husband. She and her husband lived in Pinckneyville, Ill., where he served his first charge in the ministry and then later at Butternut. In 1955 the couple came to Hudson to make their home when Pastor Dicke accepted the call as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, a post he held until his retirement in 1974. She held a strong faith and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a full partner to her husband's ministry. Surviving are three sons, Donald M. Dicke of Hartford, David (Carole) Dicke of Green Bay and Peter Dicke of Stillwater, Minn.; four daughters, Katherine (Thomas) Schnidewind of Watertown, Gretchen (Charles) Freehling of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Paula Dicke of Hudson and Julie (Douglas) Mastley of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; three daughters-in-law, Mary Dicke of Hudson, Sandy Dicke of Maplewood, Minn., and Joan Dicke of Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, John Mark Dicke, in 1981 and her husband, Martin, in 1993. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson with Pastor Mark Tewes officiating. Casketbearers will be grandsons Stephan, James, William, Paul, Greg, Martin, Anthony and John. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
