Surnames: Trieb, Huber, Bedient Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3FC.2ACI/2173 Message Board Post: Friday, January 24, 2003 Harold Trieb, 77 Harold Trieb of Nampa, Idaho, a former Hudsonite and a retired lieutenant colonel from the United States Air Force, died at home of cancer Saturday Jan. 11. Born April 14, 1925, in Ladysmith, he was raised in Hudson, attending elementry school at St. Patrick’s Catholic School and graduating from Hudson High School in 1943. On June 2, 1951, he was married to Claire E. Huber in St. Paul. Harold was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and received numerous medals recognizing his service. He flew in B-24s, B-17s and B-29s as a bombardier and later as a navigator on B-47s with the Strategic Air Command, the demanding and prestigious part of the Air Force. He completed over 50 missions in the (Asiatic) Pacific Campaign including Phillipines, Luzon, Western Pacific, New Guinea, China Defensive and Bismark Arch. His last assignment in the Air Force was as a commander at a radar site located in Wilder, Idaho, just shortly after his return from Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho Sept. 1, 1968, and moved his family back to Hudson. He loved to deer hunt in Danbury and never missed a hunt in his 34 years of retirement. In between hunting and fishing he was an avid bowler. Surviving are his wife, Claire; four children, Carol (Marvin) Bedient of Caldwell, Idaho, Harry S. (Linda) Trieb of Baldwin, John A. Trieb of Hudson and James J. Trieb of Nampa, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
