Olson, 79 Robert Lloyd Olson, 79, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and formerly of Hudson, died of a heart attack Saturday, May 24. He was born in Hudson Feb. 7, 1924, the son of Frank J. and Anna L. (Peterson) Olson, and attended Hudson schools, graduating from Hudson High School in the class of 1942. While in school both he and his twin brother, William K. Olson, were star football and basketball players on the Hudson teams and sang in the Boy’s Glee club and Mixed Chorus. During World War II, he entered the military in July 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in July 1946. After the war, he entered Hamline University in St. Paul, where he received a degree in business, and for several years he worked in Minneapolis for the Archer Daniels Company. He moved to Mankato, Minn., in 1949. On Sept. 29, 1951, in Mankato, he was married to Bernita Olson. After their marriage, the couple lived in Minneapolis. They later lived in Akron, Ohio, and Lawrenceburg, Ind., before returning to Mankato. They went in 1966 to Sioux Falls, S.D., where he worked as credit manager for GTA Feeds until his retirement. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and had been a volunteer at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital for several years. Survivors are his wife, Bernita Olson of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Barbara Olson of Sioux Falls and Bridget (Michael) Dickmann of George, Iowa; a granddaughter, Kathryn Dickmann of George; and his twin brother, William K. Olson of Hudson. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Frances Engstrom, and his son, John Olson. The memorial service was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with the Rev.
