Brown, 72 Dorothy Lucille Brown, 72, of Hudson died unexpectedly Monday, June 9, at Hudson Hospital’s emergency room after being taken there by ambulance. She was born March 17, 1931, in Clinton, Mo., the daughter of Roswell and Jessie (Lawson) Rogers, and graduated from high school in Clinton in 1949. On April 24, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Harrison, Ark., she was married to Thomas Dale Brown after his return from the Korean War. The couple and their family lived in Missouri, California and Minneapolis before moving to Hudson in 1971. Though she was a homemaker while the children were growing up, she furthered her education and received a degree in mathematics and business at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. For nearly 20 years she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in the Twin Cities as a quality control coordinator setting up training programs with state governments. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading, sewing and crocheting. While in Hudson she volunteered at the Hudson Hospital’s Alcove Shop and the St. Croix County Historical Society’s Octagon House in Hudson. She was active in the United Methodist Church as a trustee and a member of the United Methodist Women’s Club, and was a board member of the Christian Community Home. Survivors are her husband, Thomas of Hudson; a son, Ross (Anna) Brown of Minneapolis; three daughters, Deborah (Richard) Verdoorn of New Brighton, Minn., Diana (Steven) Kuepper of Stillwater and Dana (Bob) Wagner of Seymour, Mo.; six grandchildren, Eric Verdoorn, Alex Verdoorn, Dawn Burgard, Stephen Kuepper, Bonnie Nichols and Sandra McNamer; and three great-grandchildren, Chase Nichols, Anna Marie Nichols and Cody McNamer. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, William and “Ginger” Rogers; and a sister, Lily Mae Rottman. The funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the United Methodist Church in Hudson with Pastor Ruth Egerer officiating. Casketbearers for the private burial were Eric Verdoorn, Alex Vordoorn, Dawn Burgard, Stephen Kuepper, Mark Burgard and Sandra McNamer.
