He was born Dec. 23, 1925, on the Pleasant Valley farmstead, the son of Oscar and Inga (North) Bakke. He received his schooling in the Pleasant Valley Grade School and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1944. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of Rush River Lutheran Church. He never married and was a devoted farmer his entire life. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle and generous brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid sports fan and earlier in life enjoyed fishing with his brothers. Surviving are four sisters, Hazel Stinson of Baldwin, Marion Olson and Doris Ramberg, both of River Falls, and Corrine Wogan of Dawson, Minn.; two brothers, Walter (Helen) Bakke of Hudson and Howard (Maxine) Bakke of Baldwin. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Lyle, and a niece, Diane Ramberg Klein. The funeral service was at 2 p.m. May 29 at Rush River Lutheran Church, with. Pastor T. Michael officiating. Music was provided by organist Phyllis Chapin who accompanied vocalist Larry Knutson. Burial was in the church cemetery, where casketbearers were Keith Olson, Bruce Ramberg, Wayne Ramberg, Kent Bakke, Brian Ramberg and Clifford Bakke. Memorials are preferred.
