Slight, 72 Jane B. Slight, 72, a longtime resident of Hudson, died Thursday, June 12, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. She was born in Fairmont, Minn., April 17, 1931, the daughter of Harold and Catherine (Fancher) Blesi, and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1949. She attended the University of Minnesota for two years and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a bachelor of science degree in education. On Nov. 3, 1951, in Fairmont, she was married to Paul Jackson Slight. In 1961 the couple moved to Hudson and she taught fourth and fifth grade in the Houlton grade school. Later she taught piano lessons for 18 years out of her home and also was a substitute organist for local churches for many years. She was involved with the Girl Scouts and community theater, first with the St. Croix Valley Arts Guild and then The Phipps Center for the Arts. She loved to play bridge, cook and entertain in her home. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the PEO Sisterhood. Preceding her in death were her husband, Paul Slight, in 1996; a daughter, Jeannette Louise Slight, in 1975; and a son, Richard Paul Slight, in 1991. Surviving are two daughters, Catherine Slight of St. Paul and Barbara (David) Hutchinson of Hudson; a son, John Slight of Hudson; a sister, Marian Farmer of Vernon Hills, Ill.; and a grandson, Ian Hutchinson. A memorial service was at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at the United Methodist Church in Hudson with Pastor Karen Ditlefson, chaplain at the Christian Community Home, officiating. Music was provided by vocalist Cheryl Forester, who was accompanied by organist Jan Fredrick. The memorial visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Hudson. Burial was in Willow River Cemetery.
