He was born Nov. 10, 1919, the son of William and Maude Moelter. His marriage to LaVonne Randall of Stillwater took place Jan. 12, 1942. For 45 years he and his brother, Roy “Bud,” operated Moelter Construction Company. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Club No. 179 of Stillwater and a past master of St. John’s Masonic Lodge No. 1. Preceding him in death were a son, Gary “G-Man” Moelter; a brother, Roy “Bud” Moelter; and a sister, Ruby Pauley. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, LaVonne; and four children, DeeAnn (Jim) Read of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Sandy (Gary) Moelter of Stillwater, Randi (Marie) Moelter of Rutland, Vt., and Kevin (Jan) Moelter of Houlton; grandchildren Richard and Sherri Kuehl of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Peggy Moelter of Hudson, Kathy Ann Plahn of Roberts, Zack Moelter, USMC, of San Diego, Calif., and Megan Moelter of Stillwater; and a great-grandson, David Plahn.
