Ward, 92 A memorial celebration to commemorate the life of Yvette Hennig Ward of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Hudson, will be Sunday, June 15, 2:30-5:30 p.m., at the Hudson Golf Club, 201 Carmichael Rd., in Hudson. She died Jan. 12, 2003, in Phoenix at the age of 92. All friends, neighbors, associates and acquaintances are invited to attend the memorial celebration to meet the family. Refreshments will be served. Yvette Ward, widow of the late Brown & Bigelow president Chas. A. Ward, was a community leader and a driving force in establishing Hudson Memorial Hospital a half century ago. She was owner and publisher of the Hudson Star-Observer from 1952 to 1958. The Ward family will be in Hudson Sunday for her private burial in the family lot in Willow River Cemetery. Prior to the memorial celebration, family members will also tour the new hospital, now under construction. A donation to the new hospital has been made in memory of Chas. A. and Yvette H. Ward and will be used for the front entrance healing gardens. Three of her children will be attending Sunday’s memorial celebration: Dr. Herbert B. Ward, a St. Paul surgeon, Charlene (Saunders) Nederlander of New York and Phoenix and Vida (Ward) Dordevich of Portland, Ore. Another daughter, Allen “Kiki” (Ward) Platt, who lives in the south of France and Ireland, is unable to attend.
