Ladd, 98 Chauncey Hubert Ladd, 98, of Hudson died Saturday, June 7, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. He was born July 8, 1904, in Grant County, Ind., the son of Joshua and Adda (Farley) Ladd, and was raised in Maple Run, a Quaker farming community near Marion, Ind. He graduated from Chester Center High School near Montpelier, Ind., and from Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind., in 1932. For many years he worked as a structural engineer and architect in the Chicago area for the American Can Company, Argonne National Laboratory and several architectural firms. On Nov. 6, 1937, in Naperville, Ill., he was married to Ruth Kline, daughter of John and Mary (Moeller) Kline. They lived in Naperville until 1986, when they moved to Hudson. He enjoyed woodworking and faceting semiprecious stones, was a deer hunter and target shooter and made his own maple syrup. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ladd of Hudson; two sons, Robert (Tinamarie) Ladd of Nipomo, Calif., and Charles (Elizabeth) Ladd of Hudson; five grandchildren Timothy Ladd, Jennifer Parkin, Sandra Ladd, David Ladd and Andrea Ladd; and two great-grandchildren, Sadie Parkin and Aiden Ladd. Preceding him in death were his parents and three sisters, Lena (John) Allen, Georgia (Roll) Huff and Ethel Ladd. Funeral services will be private with burial of cremains later in the Naperville (Ill.) Cemetery.
