She was born in Echo, Minn. Aug. 9, 1926 to Ludwig and Elisa (Iverson) Hogsven. She married Marvin Kirschbaum on Aug. 1, 1946 in Granite Falls, Minn. Bernell was dearly loved by her family and her family was her life. She was a kind and generous person and a good friend to many. She lived courageously without complaining even though she suffered with diabetes and arthritis. She was grateful for every joy in life no matter how big or small. Bernell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson; one brother, and three sisters. She is survived by one son, Kenneth (Patty Korinek) Kirschbaum of Woodville; four daughters, Bonnie (Lloyd) Peterson of Menomonie, Gail (Timothy) Zurn of Downing, Faye Kirschbaum of New Richmond, Kaye (Dan) Steel of New Richmond; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard Hogsven; two sisters, Clara Hogsven and Orpha (Clarence) Nordang all of Granite Falls, Minn., and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was Friday, June 20 at Beebe Mortuary in New Richmond. Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 21, at the First Lutheran Church in New Richmond with Pastor Larry Jorstad officiating. Organist was Kathy Wettig and soloist was Jennifer Balow. Pallbearers were grandsons Matt Peterson, Darrin Kirschbaum, Shawn Zurn, Sam Zurn, Corey Arndt and great-grandson Matthew Peterson. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Emerald Township. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
