It's listed as a township in St. Croix County in the 1880 U.S. Census. Also does anyone know how it got its name? One of my ggrandfathers (Michael Joseph Boyle) had familial ties to a Stanton family from Claremorris, Mayo, Ireland. Just wondering if there's a connection, because Michael Boyle was in the St. Croix County area from about 1879 to about 1888
