Hanson, 78 Jan. 20, 1925 - Sept. 5, 2003 Betty L. Hanson of New Richmond, formerly of Clear Lake, died suddenly Sept. 5 at the Amery Regional Medical Center. Betty Louise Hanson was born Jan. 20, 1925, the daughter of Elmer and Jane (Williams) Donner in Great Bend, Kansas. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended public school there. During World War II Betty worked in the aircraft manufacturing plant near Wichita. She later worked at various jobs on the Air Force base nearby, where she met Ivan Hanson. They were married Nov. 11, 1951 and moved to New Richmond where they spent their honeymoon deer hunting. Together they made their home in the New Richmond and Clear Lake area and raised five children. Over the next several years Betty worked various jobs throughout the Clear Lake, Amery, and New Richmond areas. She was active in supporting the Indianhead Chorus for many years. Betty also was a member of the Clear Lake Golf Club. She enjoyed craft work, especially crocheting and knitting, and recently had been interested in rubber stamping and making cards on her computer. Betty also enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in New Richmond and in Clear Lake. Betty moved from Clear Lake to New Richmond in 1999. She is preceded in death by her busband, Ivan Hanson; parents, Elmer Donner and Jane Freeman; and brother, Earl Donner. She is survived by children, Leroy (Connie) Dilley, Oxonhill, Md., Lois Worbes, New Richmond, Bruce (Dixie) Dilley, New Richmond, Harry (Barb) Hanson, Racine, Bonnie (Jerry) Lanes, St. Peter, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister Lois Awe, Detroit, Mich.; brother-in-law Gideon (Crystal) Hanson, Clear Lake; nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 at United Methodist Church, Clear Lake with Rev. Terri Koca officiating. Music was by Ardell Kruger and Juanita Wood, Indianhead Chorus, and Eric Pederson. Casketbearers were Aaron Dilley, Kyler Lahti, Jacob Hanson, Spencer Dilley, Jerad Lanes, Christopher Lanes, and Scott Hanson. Interment was in Clear Lake Cemetery.
