Munkelwitz, 71 Vernon Albert Munkelwitz, 71, of Clear Lake, and a former resident of Hudson, died Thursday, Aug. 14, from complications following major surgery at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was born Dec. 2, 1931, in Isle, Minn., the son of Frederick and Roma (Koch) Munkelwitz. He lived in Isle until he was four years old, when he and his family moved to Houlton, where he grew to manhood. On Aug. 28, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson, he was married to Marlene Loretta Peterson. They made their home in Hudson for 22 years before moving in 1996 to Clear Lake. He was employed for many years at the Ford Assembly plant in St. Paul, first on the assembly line and later in custodial services. Hunting, fishing and golf were his leisure activities. Preceding him in death were his parents Surviving are his wife, Marlene of Clear Lake; a son, Dean Vernon (Sherri) Munkelwitz of Clayton; a daughter, Doreen Kay (William) Bradley of Clear Lake; a sister, Lorraine Gelle of Elk River, Minn.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery with the Rev. Paul Wiegert officiating. At the service, vocal soloist was Earl Larson and organist, Linda Wiegert. Honorary casketbearers were Robert Gelle, William Gelle, Gerald Gelle, Jesse Bradley, Steven Gelle, David Gelle, Steve Peterson and Alan Peterson.
