Johnson, 54 Cheryl J. Johnson, 54, of Hudson died Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Hudson Hospital. She was born Aug. 21, 1949, in Ashland, the daughter of Everett and Joanne (Jackolski) Poppe. She graduated from Hayward High School in 1967 and from the Eau Claire School of Cosmetology in 1973. Later she attended the Eau Claire District One Technical School and in 1984 obtained a diploma as a legal assistant. For a number of years she was employed at the Telemark Ski Lodge in Cable, the Sawyer County Department of Human Services and the Lein Law Offices in Hayward. For the past 10 years she worked in Hudson at the St. Croix County Government Center in the office of the Clerk of Court. On Feb. 14, 1997, in Red Wing, Minn., she was married to Donald F. Johnson. She enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques. Survivors are her husband, Donald Johnson; a stepson, Flint Johnson of New Richmond; a stepdaughter, Kenna Johnson of North Hudson; her mother, Joanne Poppe of Hayward; two brothers, Ronald (Nancy) Poppe of Hayward and Steven Poppe of Eau Claire; and four nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her father, Everett Poppe, and her grandparents. A Memorial service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the United Methodist Church in Hudson with Pastor Larry Goebel officiating. Visitation was at 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church. A second memorial service was at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Wesleyan Church in Hayward with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating. Inurnment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or cancer research.
