Boberg, 83 Arthur J. Boberg, 83, of Fountain City died Wednesday, June 25, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. He was born in Arcadia May 7, 1920, the son of Joseph and Nellie (Jankowski) Boberg. On Oct. 24, 1944, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia, he was married to Loretta Pierzina. In his working years, he was employed in a number of places, including Fountain City Creamery, Fountain Brewery and Hamm’s Beer. He was a bartender at the Palm Garden and Golden Frog, worked at Fountain City Public Cemetery and was a truck driver 17 years for the Buffalo County Highway Department. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fountain City, sang in the church choir and was an usher for 44 years. Surviving are his wife, Loretta of Fountain City; a son, Dan (Gayle) Boberg of Fayette, Iowa; two daughters, Judith “Judi” Schmitt of Hudson and Jane (Gary) Larson of La Crescent, Minn.; four sisters, Vera Kreid of Sparta, Eileen (Ernest) Kujak of Hampshire, Ill., Joan Walstad and Janice Boberg, both of Blaine, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Schmitz, Lori (Dan) Harden, Vicki Schmitt, Darin (Angie) Boberg, Derek (Heather) Boberg, Nicole (Jeremy) Johnson and Eric Larson; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, LaVerne; and two sisters, Erma and Lenora. A Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Fountain City with the Rev. Del Malin officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where grandchildren were casketbearers.
